Have you seen my post about how to make crustless pizza? Well, brush up on that technique, because I’ve got a few more ways to use it.
Sandwiches are cool, but when you don’t eat carbs during the week your options are sort of limited. Lettuce wraps are good, but sometimes you’re just not in the mood. Besides, the lettuce is just there to hold all the good stuff together, it doesn’t add much to the taste.
Fried cheese, though, that can hold everything together and add some killer flavor.
BLT
Cheese, lettuce, bacon, mayo, tomato.
Holy crap, I could eat these every day.
Meatball sandwich
This one is a little tricky. If the cheese has any holes in it the sauce will leak out. But it’s so good I didn’t mind at all.
Cheeseburger
Just cut the burger in half so it fits better.
What else would work?
I’m already planning to do a reuben on fried swiss next time I have some leftover corned beef. What else sounds good? Leave a comment with your ideas.
I like to make fry the cheese and while it’s still in the skillet separate and egg and pour that over the frying cheese. then along the center I arrange thin slices of cream cheese and if I have any fried veggies or meat like mushroom, bacon or onion, add that. I make a sort of a wall and at the last minute I add the egg yolk inside the cream cheese-veggie barrier. Then I use the spatula to lift the edges of the fried cheese up and over the center forming a sorta burrito. It’s an egg, cream cheese and veggie burrito cheese wrap. Very super filling!
Wow, that sounds … really difficult, actually. I’m guessing you’ve been practicing for a while, worked up to that.
Tacos! Every day on my way home from work, I drive by Taco Bell. We haven’t eaten tacos for nearly 2 years, after giving up wheat and corn. The other day, though, I really wanted some Taco Bell (but still resisted the run for the border). This is what I can use, instead! Thanks for the idea!
me tooo! Im desperate for tacos- oh my- the possabilities!
You, sir, are a genius!
Who am I to disagree with someone of such obvious good taste?
I think I LOVE you! Yum…
I also own Health by Coconut on face book.
Does adding coconut oil to carbohydrates change the way the body uses the carbohydrates? I have not found I have lost any weight by just adding 3tbs of cocunt oil to my eating plan. I know low carbs works but was hoping for more results from just adding the coconut oil. Has anyone on this blog lost weight by not cutting carbs? Thanks
Amira, I’ve never seen any trustworthy claims that a product changes the way carbs are processed. That would be a billion-dollar discovery if anyone cracked it.
Generally it’s replacing carbs with high-quality fats that does the trick.
WOW, im so excited about this. I can’t wait to try it! Can you use any cheese at all? It looks like you only fry the one side…but does it stay soft enough to fold? I cannot wait to try this!- maybe tomorrow!
When you first take it out it’s soft enough, but it sets up pretty quick. Different cheese are different, of course. Harder cheeses set up faster and harder, which is why I like a thin layer of parmesan along with the provolone.
